Handle Not Enough Streams in a better way
Right now if I have 2 streams and two other family members are watching, it just tells me that I don't have enough streams. I would like the option to 'bump' my wife off her tablet so I can watch TV.
Regarding “crossing streams” and how to work around it: I got this advice from a CSpire tech:
With Amazon firestick, it’s possible to disconnect a stream from a particular TV by pressing simultaneously the large Select button and the Play/Pause button for several seconds, until the message “Firestick is rebooting” appears. That process disconnects CSpire from the Firestick, releasing the stream, so another TV can use the just freed stream.
Right now all you get is a message that says don’t cross the streams. You have no idea what devise may still be logged onto one of your streams. It would also be helpful for parental control. Right now there is no place a parent can go to see if a child is watching tv and if so kick them off.
Firestick is particularly clunky on this... AppleTV not so much since you can go to the apps and swipe up to quit the App
Thanks Cara for your suggestion. We're looking at creating a way to better handle the situation when you have more devices accessing the service than streams tied to your account. I have created a separate issue for you and put it under consideration. - Rob
I didn't want to make a new thread because my idea is related.
I think when you try to use the stream on another TV instead of getting the error message that all streams are in use, it should give you the option to bump one of the TVs off. An example is if two people are listening to Pandora. When the second person tries to listen, Pandora gives them of letting the first person listen or bumping the other person off and letting the second person listen. Maybe that could be an option to bump one of the other TVs off.
If you have two TVs and move from one TV to the other, unless you force quit the application, the second TV cannot watch the show because the first TV is consuming the stream license. Need an exit menu item (not quit since that requires you to reenter your password).
